Welcome to the Magheramorne Silver Band Website

September 2007 saw the start of a very exciting year for the band, it's 125th anniversary. One project aims to collate as much information of our history as possible. If you have any information/pictures/stories please contact us!

Our chosen charity for Christmas 2007 collections was St John Ambulance, Larne Division.

Welcome to our website! Magheramorne Silver Band, taking its name from the hamlet in County Antrim in which it is located, primarily serves the local area of East Antrim, but does venture further afield.

The community spirit from the local area continues within the band, with each member having family and/or good friends within the ranks, and each one playing first and foremost for pleasure. As a band, we have been playing now for 125 years and look forward to an exciting time ahead, full of new challenges.

Magheramorne Silver Band, which has its home in the rural district south of Larne, can trace its roots back to the year 1882. Back then, members of the local Orange Lodge got together and discussed forming a band to lead their lodge on parade. The following year, their efforts became clear, as ten men paraded under the name of Magheramorne Brass and Reed Band at Straid, near Ballyclare; the start of a long tradition on the march.

Ever since those early days, Magheramorne Silver Band has proudly been an integral part of the community. Whether on parade or in concert, the support of the local people through the generations has made the band what it is today. Magheramorne Silver Band is active throughout the year, taking part in a wide range of engagements, with members who are drawn from all over the local area.
